summer stretch

wowza has 3 months flown by fast! since my last post i have added 3 new items to my cv:

dr. joe presented our poster on 'A multisensory visuotactile illusion induced by monocular occlusion with a black contact lens does not depend on touch signals on the face: evidence from behavioural and modelling studies.' at the 2011 vision sciences society conference in naples, florida, which encompasses the latest on our collaboratory work on the occluding contact lens illusion with uta wolfe and gerry keith, along with contributions from other joeLAB members (both current and former).

i have also submitted my abstract for the 2011 society for neuroscience meeting in washington, dc., which takes place in november of this year. i am super pumped about checking out the latest in neuroscience topics, staying connected with other neurobloggers (@Neurosci2011 - official meeting Twitter account, @kuzyx, and http://twitter.com/#!/paulineddra), and maybe spotting president obama!

L-R: NGDP alumnus Adrian Bartlett ('10), Tim Leonard ('12), myself
& Jeev Kiriella (kinesiology, '11), Rav Baldeo & Stephanie Jones
(York Grad Students), and Carolyn Perry ('11) at SfN 2010, San Diego,
celebrating our academic success early.
i am also proud to say that i have completed all requirements of the york university neuroscience graduate diploma program, and shared a talk with my fellow cohort, who also gave great talks on their thesis and dissertation data in topics ranging from hippocampal functioning, motor control, primate research, to clinical neuroscience examining schizophrenic populations in southern ontario. it was a tough battle, but the 9 of us came out together like a band of brothers. the program not only afforded me the opportunity to expand my neuroscientific understanding and horizons, but it also gave me the chance to meet some wonderful people in other programs and departments that i may not have otherwise had the occasion to socialize with and consider friends, in addition to potential future collaborators. so congrats fellow NGDP Class of 2011!!

fresh out of my printer is my thesis proposal which, once submitted tomorrow, is the final administrative step before scheduling my master's defense. this will be a long summer, which will likely see more blog posts in lieu of procrastination.
